IEEE Kansas City Section  Scholarship Program Explanation

Undergraduate Scholarship Program Explanation

Application | Criteria | Deadline | Description

Description

The Kansas City Section of the IEEE has established a scholarship program for the purpose of furthering the education of students pursuing careers in IEEE designated fields of interest. These fields include electrical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, computer sciences, and the allied branches of engineering and related arts and sciences.

Scholarships are awarded each January to students enrolled full time in a curriculum leading to an undergraduate degree in one of these fields from an accredited college or university.

A maximum of five scholarships of up to $400 each will be awarded. The scholarship funds are to be used only for undergraduate tuition, room and board, and other school charges (lab fees, books, etc.). Funds will be sent directly to the school's registrar or financial aid office for credit to the student's account.

Criteria

The Scholarship Committee will consider the following criteria in making its selections:
  • Applicants must have a permanent residence in, or be attending, an institution within the IEEE Kansas City Section territory.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are student members of the IEEE, or children of members of the Kansas City Section.
  • Academic record of the applicant. (An official transcript is required.)
  • Accreditation of the college or university.
  • Awards, papers, and other achievements or activities documented in the student's application.
  • Letter of recommendation from a faculty member or department head familiar with the student. (A letter of recommendation is required.)
  • Apparent financial need.

Deadline

The deadline for receipt of all application information including the student's transcript and letter of recommendation is TBA. (Any applicants sending overnight packages must make delivery arrangements by contacting the Student Activities Chair.)

The Scholarship Committee will evaluate the applications and notify each applicant by TBA
