KC Section Nominating Committee:
- Is appointed by the KC Section Chair with
agreement of the KC Section EXCOM
- Is normally the Junior Past KC Section Chair, who is appointed
to serve as the KC Section Nominating Committee Chair
- Chair for 2006 (2007 elections) is Bill Ritter w.ritter @ ieee.org
- Consists of the chair and 2 to 4 members
- Are not allowed to be on the final 2007 KC Section Slate of
Officers
KC Section Tellers Committee:
- Is in charge of conducting the 2007 Election
of Officers
- Consists of the chair and 2 to 4 members
- Must maintain confidentially during and after the election
- Must be sensitive to the nominees on the slate
- Chair and members are appointed by the Nominating Committee
Chair, with approval of the KC Section EXCOM
- Are not allowed to be on the final 2007 KC Section Slate of
Officers

Timeline for 2007 Officer Slate
Nomination Process
- Start Election Process 120 days Prior to
Election (Scheduled for 19 Oct 06), thus 21 Jun 06 (120 days until election).
- Identify potential candidates (2 per position if possible) to fill
the positions on the slate of officers:
Affinity Group Officers
Newly Elevated Students
Members Recently Relocated to the Section
- Explain Requirements:
- IEEE member in good standing
Validate that potential candidates are one of the
following: Member, Senior Member or Fellow grade
Confirm Candidate is Willing to Serve if Elected
- Deadline for Nomination Submission to the Nominations
Committee is 90 Days Prior to Election: 21 Jul 06 (90 days until election).
- Announce 2007 IEEE KC Section Slate of Officers to Membership
60 Days Prior to Election: 20 Aug 2006 (60 days prior to election)
- Announcement of slate must also include a call for
petition candidates:
- Petition must be signed by 10 or more members of the
Section’s voting membership
- Petition must be submitted at least 30 days prior to
election: 19 Sep 2006 (30 days prior to election) .
- Petitions will be Verified by the Nominating Committee
- Before the Election:
- Candidate Position Statements: All nominees either from the slate or petition, are
permitted to submit their comments on why they should be
elected, for publication on the KC Section Website
- No Section expenditures by the KC Section are permitted
in support of any candidate
- Election
- Will be based on candidates from the Official Slate of
2007 Officer Candidates and any Petition Candidates submitted
and validated
A list of the potential candidates (from Slate of Officers
submitted and any valid petition candidates) will be E-Mailed to
every valid member I-EEE address and will be posted on the KC
Section Website at http://www.ieee-kc.org
o Web-based balloting acceptable, but Need to verify that
only eligible members are voting
- Voting and Balloting:
- If only 1 candidate is provided for a position on the
slate, a vote will be held at the 19 Oct 06 General Meeting
If more than 1 candidate is listed for a position,
Web-based balloting is acceptable (need to verify that only
eligible members are voting) and will be done as follows:
Web-based balloting will be available on 26 Oct 2006, 7
days after the 19 Oct 2006 General meeting and balloting will
close on 9 Nov 2006, 21 days after the 19 Oct 2006 General
Meeting
- And the Winner is . . .
Provides the Results of the 2007 Election of Officers to
the KC Section
Announces the results of the Election on the Section
Website (provides information to Webmaster)
Provides Section Secretary with information for Officer
List to IEEE (www.ieee.org/officer_report)
- Section Chair Schedules a Transition/Training Meeting Between
Newly Elected and Incumbent Officers
