Section Chair

Function:

Manages the operation and provides leadership for the Section.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Familiar with IEEE constitution, organization, and bylaws.
2. Operation and leadership of the Section.
3. Keeping bylaws current.
4. Providing services to members.
5. Recruitment of new IEEE members.
6. Recognition of accomplishments of volunteers through IEEE awards.
7. Providing educational programs for members.
8. Encouraging Chapter activities and formation of new Chapters.
9. Chairs Executive Committee meetings.
10. Presides at Section meetings.
11. Appoints committee Chairs.
12. Ensures that all Officers and Committee Chairs understand their duties and responsibilities.
13. Serves as Section Representative at all Regional meetings.
14. Transfers records to new Section Chair.
15. Ensures required Section and Chapter report forms are submitted to IEEE in a timely manner.
16. Submits an annual report of Section activities to Region 5.
17. Recognizes new Senior Members and IEEE Fellows.

Authority:

1. Delegated authority from Regional Director.
2. Approves Actions within scope of policies and plans adopted by Section.
3. Operates within Section, Region, and IEEE bylaws.
4. Delegates authority to Section representatives.

Relationship:

1. Represents Section at IEEE Functions.
2. Reports to the Area Chair.
