The following EXCOM Voting Members attended by teleconference:
- Bill Ritter – Section Chair

- Chris Zugelder – Section Business Information Officer (for Alan Richardson)
- Shiva Narayanabhatia – Communications Society 2006 Chair-elect (for Mike Talley)

- Alan Richardson – Computer Society Chapter Chair, GOLD Affinity Group Chair

1. The Minutes from the Nov. 12, 2005 EXCOM teleconference meeting were approved by email vote. (The Secretary is remiss in getting November and October minutes finalized and posted to the web site, and will try to rectify ASAP).

2. Old Business:

A. Suggestion for May 06 Speaker. Ted Atchinson sent e-mail indicating that Don Wolf may be able to get Gary Burrell, who is one of Garmin’s founders as a speaker. Don Wolf is in the process of contacting the potential speaker.

B. Need a volunteer to replace Omar Marte as the JEC Representative. In the past the JEC Rep was authorized to charge, monthly meal expenses incurred in attend JEC functions. Main function is to post meeting announcements on the JEC website and coordination between JEC and the section. Dave Kasper volunteered for this position.

3. New Business:

A. Discuss changing the EXCOM Teleconference from the 1st Monday of the month to another time. The Southwest Missouri Subsection 2006 Chair is the Section 2nd V-Chair and cannot support Monday 12 noon to 1 PM EXCOM Meetings, because the time conflicts with Staff Meetings at work. Discussion was held on which day seems best suited for the group. We decided to start the year on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and see how that works for the group.

MARK YOUR CALENDERS: EXCOM teleconference Tuesday, January 10th, Noon to 1pm.

B. Bill Ritter will conduct IEEE-KC Section Officer training in January. Dick Hodgman has arranged for the meeting to take place at Yia Yia’s at 119th and Roe (South-West corner).

MARK YOUR CALENDERS: KC Section Officer Training Saturday, Jan 21st, 11am-3pm.

C. A significant number of L31 Reports have not been submitted. The Section Secretary will be contacting those units that are not completed. Don’t wait for Kirk, do it on your own.

D. Section Secretary needs to submit the 2006 Officers Report.

E. Cale Yates (cbyates3 @ comcast. net) has volunteered to be the Section coordinator for IEEE-USA lobbyist Russell Harrison and his efforts into the Kansas and Missouri state government activities in areas of concern to IEEE-USA.

F. We talked about the upcoming Engineers Week Feb. 19-26. It was mentioned that Civil engineers are predominant, whereas electricals do not make a large showing. Along those lines the local BSA merit badge university does not include electronics nor electricity as an option. IEEE lists a few EE related badges at http://emeritbadges.org/ . Implied in the discussion “Do we want to make a bigger EE impression locally? …how?

G. The Region 5 technical conference is in San Antonio April 7-9. Planning to attend is Ken Vollmar.

H. The Section awards cash from dues to the Societies and Groups if they provide a budget of where it plans to spend its money. Has your Society or Group a budget?
