TELECONFERENCE MEETING

The following EXCOM Voting Members attended the Sep 11, 2005, Telephone Conference.

1. The Minutes from the Jul 11 and Aug 1, 2005 EXCOM teleconference meetings were approved by E-Mail vote.

2. Old Business:

A. KC Section by Bylaws were reviewed and updated to include the needs of the Subsection and other minor changes. This was voted on last month, but failed to be included in the 1 Aug Meeting Minutes. Request that another vote be taken at this time and the results recorded in the minutes.

Action - Dick Hodgman made a motion to accept the updated KC Section Bylaws. Ken Vollmar seconded the motion. Motion passed by unanimous vote.
B. The following is the 2006 Officer Nomination Slate.

Kansas City Section Chair - Ken Vollmar - Currently the KC Section 2nd V-Chair and Southwest Missouri Subsection Chair

- There were no candidates submitted by Petition for the 2006 Officer Slate. Deadline to Dick Hodgman, Nomination Chair at least 30 days prior to election - 9 Sep for 20 Oct 05 election

3. New Business:

A. Bill Ritter – Status Report EXCOM Meeting at KU during week of 11 Sep. Bill Ritter and Jim Brooke attended a KU IEEE Student Branch Picnic on 9 Sep and discussed with Jim Rowland Branch Counselor and Ryan Grass Student Branch Chair how to involve the KC Section with their Student Branch. It was evident that just having pizza after an EXCOM meeting was not the best solution. It was decided to wait until spring to do a joint meeting. An EXCOM meeting is fine, but they would like to have some kind of presentation like personal experience from an experienced engineer or comments from a new engineer with less than 2 years work after college.

Action – No action taken at this time. Section will work with the IEEE Student Branch President firm up a meeting in the spring of 2006.

B. Bill Ritter – Discuss progress in looking at a new contract for monthly meetings. The Wyndham Garden Hotel submitted a revised menu. They will keep the cost per meal to $17.00, with a $300.00 minimum. The Embassy Suites has an interesting meal selection offering, with a lower cost per meal, but they have not reduced service costs or taxes. They do not have a minimum beyond the setup and room fee. See attached files.

Action – Lots of discussion. Ken Vollmar made a motion to get a contract with the Wyndham Garden Hotel for 11 months in 2006 (Not May) and get a contract with the Embassy Suites for May 2006. Motion was seconded by Dick Hodgman. Motion was passed by a unanimous vote.

C. Bill Ritter – Status Report – B-2 Tour. Bill Ritter and Cale Yates hand delivered the list of tour participants to the Whiteman AFB Public Affairs Office. We had 36 names on the list (6 being in standby), they said to include all 36 for the 21 Oct 05 tour.

Action – Bill Ritter will work with both the participants in the tour and Whiteman AFB, to be sure everyone knows when and where to go for the tour.

D. The next EXCOM Meeting will be a Telephone Conference meeting on Monday 3 Oct 05 from 12 noon to 1 PM.
