EXCOM meeting minutes, 06SEP01. Taken by Mark Lamendola
Lunch
11 people showed up for lunch. Lunch and meeting guests (non-voting): Greg Glass, Alan Xi, Shiv Gupta, Zafar Umar, Sohel Kahn
Quorum
Voting members present were: Randy Schmisny, Jim Berard, Dawn Van Dee, Mark Lamendola, , Sal Cerda, Saad Siddiqi, Dale Rummer. A quorum was present.
Minutes and officer reports approved
Dawn Van Dee moved approval. Dr. Rummer. seconded. Motion passed.
August JEC
Dawn and Jim visited JEC last Monday. JEC’s focus is presently on K – 12 education. JEC cannot have access to our database. Their publisher can’t work with individual applications. www.jec-kc.com
JEC has 28 organizations, and posts everyone’s calendar of events on their Web site. Directory is free to all who are listed in it.
JEC Book
Jim to send out e-mail to EXCOM, asking who on EXCOM wants to be in the directory. Mark L. to put form on Web site for 2002 sign-up of same.
JEC Membership
The KC Section is a member.
JEC Presidents Dinner
On the 24th. Dawn to go.
DG Conference
Jerry Borland and Rick Bush interested in working to help put it together. The date will be the 21st of Feb, 2002—Thursday. This will be vendor workshops, product demos, etc. Leads into IEEE dinner meeting. Main event is on Friday, the 22nd. Speakers for Friday to be invited to dinner meeting. Target is 150 to 200 people. T&D targeted mailing and e-mailing will help promote. Dean Machinery will help promote. Presently talking with NECA for help. Randy proposed Section help out with the cost.
Jim to contact PES.
Saad moved that the Section co-sponsor the event with PES, and post $1,000 toward this effort. Mark L. seconded. Motion passed.
KU Student Branch Picnic Participation
This is Friday, at 1700, in Lawrence. Dr. Rummer to send e-mail to EXCOM with details.
EXCOM Vacancies
Mark L. to follow up, identify where vacancies are and try to fill.
Student Paper Contest
Shiv went to DeVry, met with students. Dawn will send out follow-up e-mail about meeting at Union Station, set it up.
2007 T&D Conference
Would need to be held at the Convention Center. Randy will get more information.
Grant Money
Send Randy an e-mail if you want to do a project, because the grant money is out there. Mark L. to check into PACE grant for DG Conference—maybe free admittance for 50 students, or reduced for the unemployed.
Adjourn
Next meeting is 4th of October at Sprint (normal place). Randy to make arrangements.
