EXCOM meeting minutes, 10MAY01. Taken by Mark Lamendola

Quorum

Voting members present were: Randy Schmisny, Jim Berard, Dawn Van Dee, Mark Lamendola, Sal Cerda, Joe Alvarez.

Joe Alvarez arrived before the meeting but after the lunch, but discussion had already been started because of delay in obtaining food.

Non-voting member present was Don Wolf

Minutes and officer reports approved

Jim Berard moved approval. Mark L. seconded. Motion passed. Mark L. commented that minutes approval is for getting it on the record, and any comments on the minutes need to be made as soon as possible prior to the meeting. Also, e-mail voting must be recorded in the minutes.

Region 5 Trip

Randy gave a verbal report. Various resources available: GOLD, Student Activities, etc.

Projector

Make one person responsible for locating, making arrangements. Need a list of resources. Check with KC audio visual, members who have one. For now, use Sprint, Burns&Mac, Capital Electric as backup.

Student Paper Contest

Mark L. to create shortened rules for students. Need to chart out process of administering contest. Verify which winners go to R5—1st place through 3rd? Need to find out what R5 prizes are. Need to come up incentives, on top of cash. Mark L. will make proposal, based on R5 program—with a look at enhancing.

Need David Readio to provide names and contact info. of student contacts.

Jim Berard suggests dinner with faculty and students, to kick off Student Paper contest.

Region 5 in KC

2004. Need to contact Jim Leonard for assistance in making application. Randy will initate.

IEEE Refund

Dawn will look into account online to see if rebate is there, let Randy know. Randy will contact IEEE as needed.

Techcon 2002

Mark L. commented that, based on Mike Holt conference, sufficient attendance may not be there. Ditto for NETA, Electric League, and Intertec Exhibitions. Joe commented that Mike Holt conf. on Saturday probably cut attendance. Dawn commented that subject is critical—need to find out what people want. Mark L. moved that we send out an e-mail—"What do you want?" and plug at dinner meetings. Don said that’s a good idea. Joe seconded motion. Need to set date in near future.

Adjourn

Next meeting is 2nd Thu of June. Need to send agenda items to Randy.
