Program: “Where Do You Find a Leader When You Need One?” presented by Mr. Kirk Hardcastle, Partner and Executive Coach, LeaderPoint Exceptional leaders often speak of the importance of seeing the "big picture." But because most people are promoted based on their ability to perform well in technical areas, they tend to concentrate their efforts on addressing the technical issues they know how to solve—putting out the day-to-day fires that can easily devour nearly all of their time. What is "big picture" thinking, and why does our specialist training and experience do so little to prepare us for it? What factors affect strategic thinking, and what specifically do exceptional leaders think about when they "think big?" This presentation addresses how to think from the leadership perspective, separating those times when we must wear the "technical hat" from those when we should think and plan as managers and leaders. Come join us to find opportunities to lead as well as tips on finding the right leader for projects and causes which expand your influence in engineering. Kirk Hardcastle is a partner and vice president of LeaderPoint. As a session facilitator and executive coach, he has worked with over 600 senior managers representing over 300 companies across virtually all sectors.
