How to Post An Opening | Job Information Sources

To post a job opening

We will be happy to include a notice of your job opening in our eNL for free, and include a URL to a traditional-length job ad or to some other resource on your Website.

To get your job ad included, send a short, plain text blurb to writer @ ieee.org (remove the spaces).

Two important tips:

  • Make it short.
  • Make it factual.

Many of the job ads we receive have a great deal of verbiage but actually say almost nothing. When you strip away the boilerplate and adjectives, there's not much left. As an example of how to tighten up your job ad, avoid such things as asking for "strong communication skills" when you already know people either don't know how to judge that or will simply ignore it.

You have limited space to make your ad work. Make that space count.

Example of short, direct job ad:

Power Quality Engineer. KC area, mid-80s salary. Minimum BSEE, 10 yrs experience, significant power quality work. Will supervise staff of seven in data center. Supervisory experience required. IEEE Senior Member a plus. Critical systems experience a plus. See more details at www.acmedatacenters.com/jobs. Send inquiries to marlene @acmedatacenters.com.
