Officer Job Description: Chapter Chair (Affinity or Society)

The Section Chair has these duties:

In October/November of the previous year

  1. Contacts the speaker for the first meeting that Chapter has in the following year, and makes any needed arrangements.
  2. If an officer slot opens, ensures Vice Chair finds a volunteer to fill it.

Throughout the year

  1. Represents the Chapter at Chapter events.
  2. Copies the Chapter Vice Chair on any key correspondence.
  3. Voting member of the EXCOM. Designates the Vice Chair, if unable to atttend.

The Chapter Chair should go beyond these minimum duties, and look for opportunities to generate excitement and participation in the Chapter. IEEE has volunteer resources at www.ieee.org.
