graduation photos. The top two are from Washington University, in St
Louis. There, Taimur earned his BS in Electrical Engineering in 2002.
The bottom photo is was taken at Clark University,
MA, where he earned his BA in Physics with Honors in 2001.
Taimur Ellahi is a substation engineer with the
Transmission and Distribution department of Burns & McDonnell,
Kansas City.
Having joined Burns & McDonnell straight out
of college, he says, "It has been a thoroughly enjoyable experience
working for an engineering consulting and firm, where you are exposed to
the full business cycle, from the initial stages of proposals, through
design, procurement and construction."
Taimur has worked on
several project teams, assisting in the design of numerous high voltage
substations across the nation. |

| Since
being born in Karachi, Pakistan in 1979, Taimur has been a global
trotter since his toddler days. He's traveled all across from Tokyo,
Beijing, Singapore, Bangladesh Dubai, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland,
Belgium, Holland, France, the great US and several others.
He says, "It's a cultural and highly
educational experience in itself, meeting people from diverse
backgrounds, and seeing architectural feats such as the Great Wall of
China and the Eiffel and Tokyo towers."
Having spent his initial years in Karachi, Taimur
moved with his family to Windsor, England, where he spent the next 8
years of his life until moving back to the city of Karachi. He finished
his high school years there, until moving to Worcester, MA to study
Physics at Clark University.
He says, "Studying physics at Clark was an
eye opener. It teaches you to think very analytically and
methodically."
Taimur moved on to continue his dual degree
program at Washington University in St. Louis, where he majored in
Electrical Engineering. During his college years, Taimur was actively
involved in several activities, from student clubs, to crew and even
ballroom dancing.
Since moving to Kansas City, Taimur has been
actively involved in the IEEE, and currently serves as the Vice-Chair of
the Power Engineering Society and as the Secretary of the IEEE, Kansas
City Chapter. Working alongside the talented and technically diverse
members, both in executive committee meetings and in event planning,
Taimur has been able to strengthen both his leadership and marketing
skills. He looks forward to further serving the Kansas City chapter and
further improving its services to its members. |
