Water Presenter: Prof. Sarah Seguin Program: Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets The Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets (CReSIS) is a Science and Technology Center established by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 2005, with the mission of developing new technologies and computer models to measure and predict the response of sea level change to the mass balance of ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica. CReSIS is developing sophisticated sensors and long-duration unpiloted airborne vehicles (UAVs) and surface-based rovers to carry them. New ice sheet models that better simulate observed ice sheet behavior are also being developed. Radar and seismic mapping of rapidly changing glacier zones will be conducted, and these measurements will be incorporated into the new ice sheet models to provide highly accurate estimates of ice sheet contributions to sea level rise. Location: Wyndham Garden Hotel, I-435 & Metcalf
Ave, Overland Park, KS.
Charge: Dinner $25/20* for members & guests, students $15.
No charge for presentation. The cash bar at mealtime now offers added variety to your beverage options:
