Program: Harvesting The Wind–From RFP to COD, by Phillip Duncan, Wind Project Manager for Kansas City Power & Light Company. There is a growing trend for the installation of alternative energy resources both in the United States and Worldwide. The industry has seen tremendous changes in past twenty years with tremendous growth in the past ten years here in the United States. This presentation will provide insight into how an Investor Owned Utility expanded its generation portfolio to include 100. 5 MW of wind powered generation within the past two years. The presentation will begin with KCP&L’s Comprehensive Energy plan, move through the Request For Proposals phase and conclude with the final construction activities at its Spearville Wind Energy Facility in Spearville, Kansas.
