Program: Dr. Deep Medhi will present on Internet Routing Architecture. He specializes in Routing, Flow and Capacity Design in Computer and Communication Networks. Dr. Medhi is Professor and past Head of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Dept. at UMKC http://www.sce.umkc.edu/~dmedhi. "A key ingredient in successful Web page transfer from a server to a desktop is Internet routing. Simply put, packets for the Web page are routed through routers. If we look a bit deeper into it, there is a lot more to Internet routing. There is the notion of autonomous systems, and the border gateway protocol (BGP) that connects autonomous systems, and from a practical perspective, service providers of different tiers (such as tier-1 ISP, tier-2 ISP), private and public peering arrangements between providers, policy routing issues, and economics. In this overview talk, I'll touch on these various factors and will discuss how these are related to form the Internet routing architecture." Location: Wyndham Garden Hotel, I-435 & Metcalf
Ave, Overland Park, KS.
Charge: Dinner $25/20* for members & guests, students $15.
No charge for presentation. The cash bar at mealtime now offers added variety to your beverage options:
