Program: Sprint Wireless Evolution Plan Abstract: This talk will describe Sprint's vision for total access and the role of CDMA networks as well as WiFi in our evolution plans. Key aspects and comparison of EVDO and EVDV capabilities will be included. Bio: Durga P. Satapathy joined Sprint in 1998 and currently serves as a Technical Architect in the Sprint’s Technology Research & Development group. His responsibilities include wireless high speed data evolution plans, backhaul mechanisms and wireless security. Durga has served the wireless industry as Chairman of the Wireless Communications Association (WCA) License-Exempt Spectrum committee from 1999 - 2001. He also served as Chairman, IEEE 802.16 Task Group on Wireless High-speed Unlicensed Metropolitan Area Networks and helped create the IEEE 802.16a standard, covering both licensed & unlicensed bands. Durga holds a Senior Member grade in the IEEE. He has a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburg; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Hawaii; and Bachelor of Technology in Electronics & Electrical Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India.
