Job Opening
Senior Electrical Engineer
Part of the team devoted to new construction for the Generation
Business Unit, this engineer will be involved in the construction of
new generation assets, such as combustion turbines, wind turbines,
coal plants and integrated combined cycle generating units. Applies
sound and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and
practices to a broad variety of assignments in support of Westar's
new plant construction projects.
Evaluates problems and makes well-advised technical
recommendations and decisions to support the progress of assigned
project work. Must have a strong background in power plant controls
and/or power plant operations and power plant construction. The
level of direct supervision afforded the engineer will depend on the
level of experience and knowledge of project management, and
frequent clear and concise written and verbal communication with the
supervisor.
Communication with power plant management staff is critical.
Typical assignments would include plant improvement projects and
environmental control projects from project scope identification,
economic justification, engineering design, advanced planning, and
project management and follow-up through completion. Requires a
bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited
university.
At least five years of experience in project engineering is
required.
