TISP: Is the future in you?

This summer, John Turner and Bob Ronan traveled to Dallas to learn about the the  “Teacher In-Service Program" (TISP) at an IEEE Region 5 workshop.

John, Bob and about 70 others learned that pre-University training in science and technology is lacking for several reasons, leaving our kids behind much of the world in key skills. That's where TISP comes in.

TISP depends on local IEEE members (and other interested folks, of course) to supply training to local teachers of pre-University students. The teachers can then use that training, with inexpensive exercises, to introduce technical concepts to their students within their regular lesson plans.

John and Bob can’t do it alone, though. To contact local school systems, then plan and implement workshops for the teachers, will take some more people. John and Bob are willing to serve as “Champions” (a TISP term), if others will step forward to help with this future-building effort.

Check out the workshop page: http://www.ieee.org/web/education/preuniversity/TISP_Dallas_.html. Also, see: www.tryengineering.org.

If you're interested in helping future generations, contact John at John.Turner @ kcpl.com or Bob at: ronan @ ieee.org (paste into your e-mail client and remove the spaces).

Job Opening

Best of both worlds! Would you like to run the electrical process end of a new entity, but have the knowledge of the facility from the one who came before you? New to the area manufacturer with aggressive business plan is looking for an individual who can add to the bottom line by cutting electrical usage. We're helping our client search for an Electrical Engineer with manufacturing experience in a high voltage (480 KV) environment. Want to know more about the answer to the above question?
