3. Teacher In Service Program
|
Started in 2001, TISP features IEEE volunteers developing and
presenting technologically oriented subject matter to educators in a
professional development or “in-service” setting. In the last several years,
IEEE volunteers have made more than 50 presentations to over 1200 pre-university
educators within the United States, Asia and Africa.
These educators reach over 130,000 students!
Now you can be a TISP Champion! The IEEE Educational Activities
Department Region 5 and the Dallas Section are hosting a TISP Training Workshop:
July 13-14, 2007, at the Marriott DFW
North Hotel in Dallas, TX.
The workshop will cover how to organize volunteers for TISP and
how to bring the program to teachers in your local schools and school districts.
Thanks to the support of IEEE USA, the event is free for all IEEE members!
(there will be a $75 fee for non-IEEE members). IEEE will reimburse members for
any travel-related expenses.
**Funding is also available to cover the cost of supplies and
materials needed for your presentation to educators.**
To register for the workshop, visit:

4. Looking for member news
|
The Website and eNL are Section publications. The IEEE Kansas City Section
exists to serve the local membership and the publications exist to communicate
to that membership. An unfortunate trend has emerged: These publications often
don't have much to communicate other than dinner meeting information.
Presumably, our members do more than attend dinner meetings.
If you have information on other activities of interest to a specific IEEE
Society or the Kansas City Section membership as a whole, please send that to
the Publications Officer (writer @ ieee.org). Note: There is no "deadline."
Just send information as you get it, and the Pubs Officer will add it to the
next eNL (if the item is appropriate and if space permits--and space nearly
always permits). |
5. Thought for the Day

Preparation prevents problems. |
Wishing you the best,
