Program: Bill Ritter will provide a glimpse into the world’s premier rocket sled test facility: the  Holloman High Speed Test Track (HHSTT). The HHSTT is an aerospace ground test facility nearly 10 miles long. Bill worked there for over 10 years as a Supervisory Electronics, General, and Mechanical Engineer. See Teaser #1 | Teaser #2.

2. June Dinner Meeting

Program: The Gordian Knot of The Grid: FERC, NERC, ERO, RRO, RTO, and hosts of others. How in the world does something this complicated actually work so that our lights stay on? Come to the June meeting and find out.

Don Taylor, Director of System Planning at Westar Energy, Inc. in Topeka, will try to provide illumination to the inner workings of the whole grid. Don Taylor graduated with BSEE in 1973 from UMR. After attending graduate school, he worked at Burns & McDonnell in a variety of positions for 8 years before joining the Kansas Power and Light Company in 1981. Don has worked in system planning Westar Energy for 26 years and serves as their representative to the Southwest Power Pool Transmission Working Group, Generation Interconnection Task Force, and Base Plan Guidelines Task Force.
